I am using dspic QEI module to control motor DC. I'm using a easy roller wheel kit but I noticed the encoder don't have Index channel, only A and B. For using QEI a need the index channel. It is possible to monitor the Index channel of the encoder? Maybe by soldering a cable inside?

No, that encoder is a two channel encoder. Are you sure the dsPIC has to have the index input? That seems a little odd. Only A and B are needed for speed and direction (and therefore position). The index simply pulses when a full revolution occurs.

I did a quick review of one of the dsPIC parts...

And I think you can configure the device so the count resets when MAXCNT is reached instead of when the index pulse occurs. That would indicate that the index pulse is not required to monitor speed or direction.

I think you are right, I will check the dspic datasheet and i will comment.

Thank you for your help.
